Over a million older people across England are reported to feel isolated and lonely over the festive season. To combat this, Gracewell of Maids Moreton on Church Street is opening up its doors to older people who would have otherwise spent Christmas Day alone this festive season.

In the true spirit of Christmas, the home has reached out to older people in the local area and have invited them to spend the special day at Gracewell on Monday 25th December.

One member of the local community, Kathleen, will be spending the day at Gracewell of Maids Moreton. Speaking about the day, Kathleen said: “I’m very much looking forward to having lunch with everyone at Gracewell of Maids Moreton. On my visits to the home, ahead of the day, I have already made a number of friends and I can’t wait to spend the day with them and the Gracewell team”.

Guests, including Kathleen, will enjoy a scrumptious Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, festivities, entertainment and – most importantly – companionship.

Loneliness among older people is a serious reality; more than a million older people across England often feel ignored or invisible. This means they have no one to turn to for the support they need in tough times, but also often have no one with whom they can share the joys of life.

Christmas Day should be filled with warmth and happiness for all, and Gracewell of Maids Moreton, and the other Gracewell homes across the country, are showing their commitment to making that a reality for people in their local communities and beyond.

Andrea, Home Admission Advisor at Gracewell of Maids Moreton, said:

“At Gracewell of Maids Moreton, we are proud to be at the heart of the local community we serve – and we are delighted to be inviting those within the local area to spend their day with us. We always love welcoming guests with open arms and never is that more important than on Christmas Day.

“We are all very much looking forward to the 25th December, and ensuring our guests know they have new friends around them.”
