Gracewell of Church Crookham resident, Joan Cow, turned 100 recently, and a birthday party attended by friends, family and fellow residents was thrown for her.
The party featured two different cakes, and a special serving of afternoon tea, including prosecco and a range of delicious sweat treats.
Joan received a birthday card from the Queen, as well as her own personalised version of The Daily Sparkle, a newspaper for older residents and those living with dementia.
In her long and varied life before moving to Gracewell of Church Crookham, Joan’s main job was at BSA Motorbike as a typist. She enjoyed bike riding as her favourite hobby, and rode all around the country with her husband. She also thrived on walking, skiing, mountaineering, gardening, flower arranging, and liked supporting and raising money for different charities.
At Gracewell of Church Crookham, Joan has participated in a wide array of events and activities, and particularly loves it when the local nursery and baby group visit monthly. She has also taken part in the singing club, and a range of physical activities.
Joan’s positive experience at the care home demonstrates its commitment to providing an active, dynamic environment for all residents, giving the opportunity to develop talents and socialise with others.
Gracewell of Church Crookham provides high-quality dementia care and nursing care, focused on a range of individual needs.
