Gracewell of Camberley won three prizes at the inaugural Frimley System Care Home Forum Awards recently.

The Forum wanted the prizes to celebrate those who go the extra mile to ensure the quality of the residents’ health, wellbeing and happiness, during their time in retirement communities, and to recognise their contribution.

Nominations came in from across the local community, from both care home staff and health care professionals, as well friends and families of care home residents who wanted to recognise the impact staff make.

The awards recognised not only the personal contribution of two individual team members at Gracewell of Camberley, but also the positive influence and level of care of the whole Gracewell of Camberley team! All the prizes were presented personally by Jo Croombs, Clinical Lead for Quality in Care Homes & Quality Programme Manager at the North East Hampshire and Farnham Clinical Commissioning Group.

Angie Biggs, the Head Housekeeper, received a highly-commended award for her Outstanding Contribution as a Non-Clinical team member, and Girlie Braga won the Outstanding Contribution Prize for nurses.

It was the prize for the whole Camberley team that meant the most to everyone. For all their efforts while moving residents into the brand new £1.2 million home, the whole team won the Special Commendation Award, which is now proudly on display in the entrance to home for all to see.

Jeorgia Spalding, Home Admissions Advisor at Gracewell of Camberley, said:

“The team is so pleased that we won these awards. The personal recognition of Angie and Girlie is great, and the fact that the residents and their families recognised the contribution of the whole team during the move is so encouraging, and we all can’t wait for the celebratory BBQ!

“For Jo herself to come and present the awards made it even more special. Our main aim is always to do the best for our residents and their families, and to be recognised across the sector for this shows that we are having an even wider impact and demonstrating what great care is.”
