Meet Our Team

It’s the people who make our care home special. Our Home Manager leads a dedicated team of professionals who provide care and support to residents at Gracewell of Edgbaston.

Samantha Elwell, Deputy Manager

Edgbaston - Samantha Elwell

Hi I'm Sam, inclusive of training I have worked in care and within Nursing from 2009. During Training I had the opportunity to work on critical care and the military ward at Queen Elizabeth hospital where I gained specialist skills in cleaning and dressing wounds and amputations caused during war time conflict. During an elective, I chose to work in Malta at the Mater Dei Hospital where I worked on A&E utilising a lucas machine for resus and integrated into their system to take emergency calls. I gained experience in oxygen therapy under pressure to promote wound healing in decompression chamber also used for divers.

Prior to becoming Deputy manager I was working as a clinical lead here at Gracewell from October 2016. I am so very passionate about my job and give my 110% for all residents and their families. I am very approachable,  so if you would like to have a friendly chat about any concerns you have please feel free to come and have a chat.

Hi, I'm Jazz and I am the first point of contact for families looking for a care home for a loved one. Having joined Edgbaston in May 2017 as an established home, it is great to be part of a team who care and want to make our residents lives fulfilling. The team and residents are so warm and welcoming. I am so proud to be part of this team.

Natasha Phillips, Activities Co-oridnator

Hi I'm Tasha, I previously worked as an activity co-ordinator in another care home and before that I worked with disabled adults to give them the best quality of life. My passion is working with the elderly. It is so rewarding to see residents getting involved in activities they didn't even know they would enjoy and It makes me happy to see them happy. The aim of my job is to entertain and keep residents mind, body and soul stimulated! I consider myself to be very bubbly and affectionate, if you have any ideas, please feel free to share them with me.

Lisa Joseph, Home Administrator

Lisa Joseph - Edgbaston

My role at Gracewell consists of recruitment, payroll and staffing. I previously worked in Administration with children for 6 years and moved on to working for a care home for 4 years and have been with Gracewell since February 2017. I very much enjoy my role at Gracewell and I am keen to get the right staff for our home to give our residents the best quality of life.

Carl Cooper, Head Chef

I started out working in care just over 10 years ago as a Kitchen Assistant, I worked my way up to becoming Head Chef within my first 3 years of working there and I worked there for 10 years. It was not just my job I was going to every day, it was like going home to my 2nd family. The experience and opportunities that were given to me has helped me achieve the role I have today. I have only been working for Gracewell for a month and I already have made it feel like a new home with a new family. I live in West Bromwich with my family and, in my spare time, my youngest daughter and I bake for the elderly people who live on our estate, a place that we have known for over 20 years.

Terry Arrowsmith, Maintenance Manager

I am new to Gracewell but have come from a 20-year background in school maintenance. I live in Solihull and have three teenage children. Not only am I enjoying my new role, I love to socialise with the residents and hear their life stories and - wow - what some of have done in their lives is amazing. When you come to work and smile you know it’s a nice place. The team here are great.

Hello my name is Satnam and I am the head housekeeper. I have been apart of the Gracewell team since the opening in 2015. Since I have been here I have loved every minute with our day to day duties, but most of all getting to chance to speak to all the residents as I clean their rooms! I am so happy to work for Gracewell as we have a wonderful team and fantastic residents. It really is like a second family.
