Meet Our Team

It is the people who make our home a truly happy and caring one.

At Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield, we are recruiting an experienced team of dedicated professionals, all of whom will undergo our own in-depth training programme. Just as in every other Gracewell home, the whole team works to make sure that our residents' needs are constantly being identified and that truly personalised care is provided.

Mike Dearn, Home Manager

MikeMy name is Mike and I am delighted to be leading the newly formed team at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield. I have 12 years’ experience in the care home sector, 8 of which have been in the role of Home Manager. I have previous experience in the Hospitality Industry was has served me well since moving to the care sector. We have a firm belief in team work here at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield and go to great lengths to recruit our team members. We have a beautiful brand new environment but this would count for nothing without the care being delivered by caring people! My team and I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful home.

Gill Dunn, Deputy Manager

I am the deputy manager at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield. I have many years’ experience within the care sector and qualified as a nurse over 30 years ago. I am passionate about nursing and dementia care and enjoy working with a team with the same goals and beliefs. It is so fulfilling and we get so much back from the people we care for. I enjoying watching our residents move in and becoming part of our family.

I look forward to Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield growing and becoming the best care home there is in the area and beyond.

I joined Gracewell Healthcare in August 2015 and I absolutely love my role within the community. Being the first point of contact to families that are enquiring about a care home I hear the emotional, stressful and often tiring journeys many are on. The best part is when we are the chosen home for a loved one and our new resident becomes part of our family and settles into their new home especially when they make friends, joining in with our activities and are eating well. We have a wonderful team who care about each residents. It is truly an honour to be working in our residents homes.

I have recently joined Gracewell Healthcare however I have worked as a care home administrator for over 10 years. I am looking forward to working with a new team and the opening of the home in January 2017. I will be heading the Administration team of the home, so please feel free to ask if you require any assistance from my team.

Jon Young, Head Chef

I started in the Catering industry when I was 18 and developed my skills from there. After a while I moved front of house as a manager focusing on the Restaurant and Bar trade. My passion for cooking took over and I went back into the Catering Industry, Here I worked my way up through the rankings from a Chef de partie to Sous Chef and Finally Head Chef and Kitchen Manager for Mitchell & Butlers Fine Dining Restaurant group called Premier Country Dining Group overseeing 3 of there sites. In Oct 2015 I started work in Care Homes with Sunrise Senior Living of Knowle and finally became Head Chef. I have always been passionate about food and enjoy cooking new dishes and expanding my knowledge I aim to show my passion for cooking into Gracewell and give our residents the delightful tastes they deserve.

I have worked within housekeeping for over 20 years with my last post at Aston Villa Football Club. Gracewell is the first care home I have worked in however I love the feel of our home, and our staff and most of all our residents make it a wonderful place to work. It is an honour to be looking after our residents and making sure they are comfortable in their own space as well as the other areas in the home.
My team have a great caring approach and will always have a chat with residents and help and support them as much as we can. We are all one big happy family here at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield.

Kevin O'Reilly, Maintenance Manager

I have worked within maintenance for over 35 years as a qualified carpenter. Working within many industries I have always enjoyed being part of the care industry and being able to give back.

In the past, I've also been a design and concept manager for 5 years and came back into care 2 years ago as I missed the feeling of giving back. I was attracted to Gracewell Healthcare because of its care approach, unique look, feel and style of the home. It really is a joy coming into work, our residents are our family.

I am married with 4 children and I like to think of myself as a comedian.
