Dementia Care

When you or someone you know is diagnosed with dementia, it can be an overwhelming experience. Whether it’s Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia, mixed dementia, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson's disease dementia, or one of the many other forms of memory loss, we are here to help.

At Gracewell Healthcare, we understand the demands memory loss places both on people living with dementia and on their families. Our individualised care programmes and modern care homes have been designed based on the latest research and advice from experts in the dementia care field.

Personalised Care

Our professional teams are highly experienced and work closely with families to create and deliver truly bespoke dementia care plans. The aim is to enable residents living with dementia to have lives that are as full and as happy as possible.

When you are a Gracewell resident living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, we will celebrate the person you have been - and the person you continue to be - by identifying hobbies you enjoy, the career you followed, the music you love. We also get to know your family members.

We encourage residents to bring favourite photographs and mementos that will help to trigger happy memories and important milestones in life. Pieces of furniture from home and other treasured items help people to settle and feel secure.

Gracewell uses personal information and preferences to tailor activities for each resident and to create favourite meals that are appealing, balanced and nutritious.

Home Design

Gracewell care homes have been designed hand in hand with leading institutes at Stirling and Bournemouth Universities.

Lighting has been set to standards which helps residents with cognitive impairments. Communal spaces, although spacious and airy, have been organised into smaller households to encourage residents to socialise in smaller numbers and instil confidence. Gently curved corridors eradicate the sense of institution and create a homely feel. Themed galleries and interactive spaces providing visual stimulus and improved orientation include hand-picked images, vintage posters and original artwork from eras our residents will recognise.

If you are looking for residential dementia care for your wife, husband or another family member, start by talking to Gracewell.
