Vicky Radmore has been Home Admissions Advisor at Gracewell of Bookham since September 2017; her role is to support and guide prospective residents and their families through the process of choosing a care home setting.
Vicky believes that making the decision to choose a care home can be a very emotional time, so it is important that people are given all the relevant details required to make an informed decision, Vicky said:
“As the Home Admissions Advisor, I will always be there on the end of a phone or available at the home for a chat and a coffee, including to answer any questions that arise as families go through the process.”
Vicky has had a long career in customer facing roles, including in customer care and sales, she has also worked in a care home as a care assistant in Shropshire. Prior to joining Gracewell of Bookham, Vicky wasn’t aware of the Home Admissions Advisor role, but she said:
“I felt instantly the Home Admissions Advisor role was for me, in fact, from the moment I walked into Gracewell of Bookham I knew I had to work there.”
When Vicky joined Gracewell of Bookham, there were only nine residents and she has watched the home grow to sixty-one residents - something she believes has only be possible due to their ‘whole home’ approach. According to Vicky, the Gracewell of Bookham team work extremely co-operatively, with every member of staff offering a helping hand where possible, as they all aim to make each day special for the residents.
“The best part of my role has to be the residents. Each one has a fascinating story to tell and I feel lucky I can take time out of my day to have a cup of tea and chat to them.
“During my time at Gracewell of Bookham, I have come to understand the importance and impact of good quality person-centred care. I have seen it transform residents’ lives and it is a pleasure to see them thrive in such a homely and safe environment.”
