Gracewell Healthcare have continued their commitment to develop the professional skills of team members in partnership with Paragon Skills, a leading UK Apprenticeship training provider.
The care provider, who pride themselves on delivering high-quality personalised care to residents, see supporting the development of their staff as central to the future growth of team members and of the organisation. Importantly, the benefits of their upskilled workforce are passed onto residents, ensuring they can deliver industry leading levels of care across each of their care homes.
With so many demands and pressures both externally and internally within the social care sector, Gracewell Healthcare endeavour to facilitate extensive, flexible and relevant training programmes for their team members.
Building on this commitment, Gracewell have partnered with Paragon Skills to offer vocational training courses through their Apprenticeship Levy funding. The Levy has put the control of apprenticeship funding in the hands of employers and has enabled Gracewell to invest in apprenticeship programmes to upskill their workforce. These on the job qualifications provide core and role specific individual pathways which combine a mix of theory and practical learning. In turn, these qualifications support team members to develop a deeper understanding of their key tasks and responsibilities, the importance of enhancing their skills, knowledge and behaviours, as well as leading and coaching others.

Hasan Gocen, a Care Assistant at Gracewell of Fareham, also completed the L2 Lead Adult Care Worker training course. Hasan, who is hoping to go into the nursing profession, said that his apprenticeship will help him achieve his ambition of becoming a Senior Care Assistant. He added:
“The apprenticeship has highlighted my strengths which allowed me to apply the knowledge and skills I have learnt into my role. My confidence has also improved, and I am happy to share my knowledge with my team.”
“At Gracewell of Fareham, I care for residents with dementia and the apprenticeship has given me the knowledge and understanding to support them compassionately and with patience. The knowledge and skills from the course have also helped me ensure that the correct infection control policies and procedures have been followed during Covid-19 and I am proud to be part of a team that have had no cases of the virus.”
