Aqib Rashid, a 28-year-old team member at Gracewell of Edgbaston, has qualified as a Registered Nurse after working as a Care Assistant for four years at the care home.
Aqib, who is immensely popular with residents and his colleagues, had requested to take the Registered Nurse role after qualifying as a Nurse in late 2020. Zoe Steventon, the care home’s General Manager, was delighted to accept Aqib’s request. And, as a thank you for his abiding dedication to the care home, the team banded together to give him a nurse’s fob which bares an engraved image of his proud family.
The care home say that Aqib is a caring and attentive team member, and they are proud and honoured to have him within their team.
Aqib says he was drawn to work within social care from his commitment to helping others, a line of work he also thinks best suits his character and personal morals. He joined Gracewell of Edgbaston as the care home is an established and reputable care provider and one which promised to offer him great career opportunities.
His favourite aspect of working at the care home is working with his colleagues who share a common goal of supporting each other and helping those in their care, adding that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought his team closer together. He says that he wanted to pursue nursing as he wanted to delve further into patient care from a holistic perspective.
Speaking of his time at the care home, Aqib said:
“I have a lot of memories from my time at Gracewell of Edgbaston which I hold dear. Transitioning into my new role has been particularly memorable as it has shown how far I can continue to progress my career with the right attitude and guidance.
“My future ambition is to pursue a career in care management as having such great support from my managers has inspired me to one day lead my own team in a positive and friendly manner.”
Zoe Steventon, the General Manager at Gracewell of Edgbaston, said:
“Since joining our care home, Aqib has shown a natural ability to put our residents and team members first in all of his actions. I am delighted that he has been able to progress his career with us as he is a wonderful asset to Gracewell of Edgbaston care home.
