Gracewell of Weymouth, on Cross Road, went all out this week to ring in the festive season with Santa’s Grotto and some very special visitors from Somerset Reindeer Ranch.
The care home, which provides high-quality nursing, residential and dementia care, invited members of the local community and the mums, dads and children of neighbouring Holy Trinity School to the Christmas-themed event.
Guests and residents met Santa in his grotto, whilst getting a photo taken and being given a gift especially from him.
Gracewell of Weymouth provided festive treats for all to enjoy, including mince pies, mulled wine and Christmas cupcakes, whilst guests also had use of the Gracewell bistro with luxury coffee and hot chocolate.
Home Admissions Advisor Esther Sheppard arranged the event for the public to get in the festive spirit whilst raising funds for Cancer Research. It was so well turned out that a queue of children to meet Santa and his reindeer went out along the whole of the Gracewell Garden. Everyone absolutely loved meeting the reindeers, too.
A parent in attendance said:
“It can be so hard at this time of year to try and get to see Santa with the children. This event was fantastic and having it for charity with a donation was a brilliant idea.
“My children loved it and also enjoyed meeting the residents.”
Resident Dusty said:
“I have never seen reindeer before! What a home I have.”
Esther Sheppard, Home Admissions Adviser at Gracewell of Weymouth, said:
“I would like to thank everyone that attended – especially the team at the Somerset Reindeer Ranch who were amazing and made the event so magical for everyone.
“It was so successful that we look forward to doing it all again next year.”
