Guests joined together to celebrate the official opening of Gracewell of High Wycombe, a new luxury care home on The Row in Lane End, which opened its doors for the first time recently.
The red carpet was rolled out for the special event, and VIP guests including the Group Captain Woods, Station Commander at RAF High Wycombe, the Mayor of High Wycombe, Brian Pearce, Councillor for Lane End, Suzanne Brown were all greeted with champagne and canapes upon arrival.
Entertainment was provided by cello and flute duo Trifonics who played classical music throughout the afternoon. Students from Lane End Primary School also joined the guests in the garden, performing a number of songs, as well as African drumming and a seasonal may-pole dance for all to enjoy.
To officially mark Gracewell of High Wycombe open, the ribbon was cut by first founder member, Bryan Gait. Bryan has lived in the local area all of his life, and is a proud RAF veteran. He was a pilot with the RAF for 24 years, and his first plane was American, the Neptune, as well as the Shackleton, which is namely the coastal command. Bryan was originally stationed in North East Scotland, before being based in Topcliffe, North Yorkshire.
To cut the ribbon, Bryan was surrounded by special guests from the local community, including Group Captain Woods, who is the Station Commander at RAF High Wycombe. The day was made all the more special, as he presented Bryan with framed press cuttings from the London Gazette, which had his name recorded in them from his time as an RAF pilot. Bryan was also joined by Sheena Croston, Gracewell of High Wycombe’s Home Manager, Michael Burke, Senior Director of Operations and Sam King, Director of Operations for Gracewell Healthcare, who all provided special speeches.
Guests were given the opportunity to take a tour of the home, given by Gracewell’s Home Admissions Advisors who wore floral corsages on their wrists. As part of the luxury new-build, residents will have access to a communal bistro café where they can chat with family, friends and the Gracewell team over a cup of coffee. There is also a professional hair and beauty salon, as well as a patio area which overlooks a picturesque, sensory garden.
