Gracewell of Camberley Receives ‘Outstanding’ Rating from the Care Quality Commission

Gracewell  |  June 20, 2018

Gracewell of Camberley has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. Roughly 1 to 2% of care homes receive this excellent rating.

The ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating was awarded following a comprehensive inspection in January 2018, and is a significant achievement making Gracewell of Camberley one of the country’s top nursing homes.

In the report the CQC inspectors praised Gracewell of Camberley for their ‘imaginative and creative ways to make sure people's care and support met their needs and reflected their preferences and cultural background.’

The CQC also highlighted that residents ‘were supported to access healthcare services, such as GPs and specialist nurses and therapists’, and team members had ‘developed caring relationships with people they supported.’ Residents are always encouraged to take part in decisions about their care needs and the inspectors said that ‘views of residents were listened to’ and team members ‘respected people's independence, privacy, and dignity.’

Inspectors rated Gracewell of Camberley as ‘Outstanding’ in the ‘well-led service’ and ‘responsive’ categories and said that the home’s ‘quality assurance processes were extremely thorough, wide

ranging and soundly embedded in a system of continuous improvement. There were exceptional arrangements to develop the leadership qualities of senior staff, and the home’s governance system was effective.’

Gracewell of Camberley, which is part of Gracewell Healthcare (owned by Sunrise Senior Living UK), provides nursing and personal care for up to 91 people, including those living with dementia.

Melanie Jacobs, General Manager at Gracewell of Camberley, said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for the whole team here at Gracewell of Camberley. It is testament to the pride our team members take in the care we provide, and the dedication they show to the residents that live here.

We are very pleased that this has been recognised by the CQC, and we are very proud every individual here who make the home such a special place to live and work.”

Joanne Balmer, Senior Director of Care and Quality for Gracewell Healthcare and Sunrise Senior Living UK, said:

“Our team works really hard to deliver high quality person-centred care and support to residents and the feedback received from the inspectors showcases this.

“We will continue to ensure that the home maintains its high standards and fulfills our commitment to ensure that all residents receive the exceptional care that they deserve.”
