Name: Reena George

Home: Gracewell of Salisbury

How long have you worked at Gracewell?  I joined Gracewell on 5th August 2014.

Why did you become a nurse? I was always encouraged to by father and sisters as I always wanted to help people.

Why did you decide to work at a care home? I love the fact that I can get to know residents and their families. Working in a care home environment allows me to work more efficiently and care for individuals that I can really get to know and see on a daily basis.

What is the most rewarding part of being a nurse at Gracewell? Gracewell of Salisbury has a great team. We all work well together and I am always grateful for the wonderful support that I get from more manager, deputy and all other team members.

What is your favourite resident story or memory? One of the residents talked to me about her life in Hyderabad, India where she was born and raised. I told her I was from Hyderabad too and she said she likes eating different curries. When I come back from India recently, the resident asked me to show her photos so that she could see what the place looks like now. I loved that moment. The resident lived in Hyderabad during the World War and she moved to England at the age of 13 years old. We have really gotten to know each other and I love that about working at Gracewell.
