Local Firefighters Visit Gracewell of Newbury to Celebrate International Firefighters Day
Gracewell of Newbury recently enjoyed a special visit from eight local firefighters who popped in for a delicious meal and met with residents to celebrate International Firefighters Day.
The firefighters joined the Gracewell home on Friday the 4th of May to enjoy a tasty meal of fish and chips and brought along one of their fire engines and some equipment to show residents and demonstrate what they do.
Getting into the spirit of the visit, Gracewell of Newbury’s Home Manager, Racquel Barretto, dressed up as a firefighter- bringing a smile to the faces of residents and the special visitors.
The visit was held to celebrate International Firefighters Day; a day which offers a special opportunity to recognise and say thank you to firefighters around the world for all the hard work they do to keep communities safe.
The day was such a success that the firefighters hope to collaborate more with the local home in the future, including potentially visiting the home again to host a bingo night, and inviting residents to come and see their fire station.
Evonne Burch, Home Admissions Adviser at Gracewell of Newbury, said:
"We were delighted to welcome local firefighters to our home to recognise and celebrate the important work they do in our local community on International Firefighters Day. The visit was a huge success and our residents really enjoyed it, and we are now looking forward to more fun collaborations in the future."
