Gracewell of Ascot to Host Community Art Exhibition
Gracewell of Ascot on Burleigh Road is opening its doors to the local community on Saturday 25 May as it hosts an Art Exhibition showcasing local art.
From 10am – 4pm, friends, family and neighbours are welcome to pop in to the care home throughout the day to view the art on display, featuring work from the local Windsor Arts Collective and Gracewell of Ascot’s very own residents, as well as live art from local artist Jane Pilcher.
The Windsor Artists is a collective of innovative contemporary artists from Windsor and the surrounding area, covering a diverse range of styles and techniques. As active participants in the local arts and crafts scene, they will be joining Gracewell of Ascot to the benefits of creativity and the arts.
At Gracewell, residents are encouraged to get creative regularly and develop their artistic skills. A group of residents meet once a week with volunteer Jane, who is part of the Windsor Arts Collective. Recently, they have been creating beautiful and creative floral designs. Jane is especially great at helping Gracewell’s residents with poor vision recreate pieces of artwork they had produced prior to moving to Gracewell. Through her efforts, Jane helps to ensure that residents at Gracewell maintain their creative abilities.
Gracewell of Ascot also an art station permanently set up so that residents can continue their artwork whenever they feel like it, giving all residents the freedom to enjoy expressing themselves creatively.
On the day of the exhibition, live music will also be performed by a local flautist from 2.30pm and light refreshments will be provided throughout the afternoon. A raffle will also take place for all guests to buy a ticket for. This will be raising money for Thames Hospice, a local charity providing care for people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families and carers.
