Meet Our Team

It is the people who make our home a truly happy and caring one.

At Gracewell of Bookham, we are recruiting an experienced team of dedicated professionals, all of whom will undergo our own in-depth training programme. Just as in every other Gracewell home, the whole team works to make sure that our residents' needs are constantly being identified and that truly personalised care is provided.

Harry Garston, General Manager

Harry GarstonMy name is Harry Garston and I am very proud to be the General Manager of Gracewell of Bookham. I have worked at Gracewell since early 2016, after serving my Commission in the British Army. It is a Company whose values and beliefs closely align to my own beliefs and I am passionate about the care we provide to our Residents. The favourite element of my day is always getting to know our residents. This allows me to better support the team here to provide person centred care to each of the residents.

Natasha Webster, Deputy Manager

Natasha WebsterI started my career as a nurse within a private hospital. Throughout my time there, I found my passion for palliative care. I then went to specialize in this area at a local hospice where I worked in the community as a palliative care nurse specialist. It was through this role that I started coming to Gracewell of Bookham. Since the first time I walked into the building I felt welcomed and part of the team. I supported Gracewell of Bookham for over a year as a community nurse specialist. I joined the team as a Clinical Nurse Manager but have recently been promoted to Deputy Manager.

Vicky Radmore, Home Admissions Advisor

Bookham - Vicky Radmore

As the Home Admissions Advisor for Gracewell of Bookham my role is to help prospective residents and families through understanding what’s important to them as well as showing them the benefits of our beautiful home and demonstrating how Gracewell offers solutions bespoke to each resident. It’s a pleasure to be working alongside such a fantastic team. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and discovering new places to eat out. I’m also a keen walker often taking on various treks for charity. I look forward to showing you around Gracewell of Bookham.

Ann Clack, Activity Coordinator

Ann ClackHaving worked with teenagers for over 15 years supporting their career choices I decided to make the change and work within senior care. I am excited to join Gracewell of Bookham as their Activity Organiser as this allows me to be hands on, spend time with residents and improve their quality of life through meaningful and stimulating activities. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to see a room full of happy faces.

Damien Hutchinson, Head Chef

Damien HutchinsonI joined Gracewell of Bookham in March 2020 as Head Chef, I am really excited to join such a fantastic team. I have worked in the catering industry for 15 years and have been a chef manager for 8 years. Nutrition, hydration and dining is such an important part of our residents day, I, along with my team want to make this experience the very best. I also enjoy taking time out of my day to chat to our residents and find out about their favourite recipes and how they spent time in the kitchen.

Michelle Marr, Head Housekeeper

Bookham - Michelle MarrI have strong empathy for all of our residents here at Gracewell of Bookham and I feel I have a very rewarding role. I take great pride in ensuring that our home is presented to a very high standard, keeping our residents rooms and communal areas clean, tidy and safe. Myself and my team enjoy being with the residents every day, getting to know everyone individually to ensure we can deliver a truly personalised experience. I am very fortunate to work in such a beautiful home.

Derek Hurst, Maintenance Coordinator

Derek HurstMy name is Derek Hurst. I am the Maintenance Coordinator here at Gracewell of Bookham. I have been at Gracewell of Bookham since the home opened in August 2017. I have been in the building trade since I left school starting with my apprenticeship as a carpenter/joiner working up to site manger then coming into the Care Home Sector. I have always been a caring and willing person putting the needs of others above my own. I have also helped out here with driving the mini bus for resident trips out because it gives me a lot of pleasure seeing their happiness when out on the trips. My aim is to respect everyone, our residents, our visitors and our staff as I always respect everyone equally.

Jackie Pym, Home Administrator

Jacqueline PymHaving worked in the education and care sector for most of my working life, I am thrilled to have become Administrator for Gracewell of Bookham. During my short time here, so far, I have met an amazing working team and delightful residents and already feel at home. As I am a keen walker I will be taking every opportunity move around our home and get to know the remaining staff and residents. I was a Teaching Assistant for 16 years, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and then moved into 24 hour for those with severe learning disabilities, for both adults and children. This was a job that became a passion and a role, within the care environment, that I knew I wanted to pursue and I am very much looking forward to joining in with the fun and games with our residents.

Terry, Resident Ambassador

Terry I was born in 1930 in South London and spent wartime years in North Devon, my father was an army officer and my mother was a civil servant. My educational years were spent at Effingham and Brixton. I then, for a large part of my career, was a Senior Marine Economist. I also spent 1 and half years in the Royal Navy for my national service. I had a wonderful marriage to Barbara for 59 years, sadly Barbara is no longer with us. Gracewell of Bookham became my home in December 2017 and soon after I became resident ambassador. I am often asked to meet with potential new residents and their families to talk about what it’s like to call Gracewell home and give insight on daily life here. I also assist the team with interviewing new members of staff, I feel my opinion is valued and the voice of us as residents is really taken into account when making decisions.

Visiting our homes: latest information

Due to the latest national restrictions, we continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, following public health advice. We’ve a detailed set of criteria to inform when an individual home can be reopened safely to limited visiting either by families or existing residents. The majority of our homes are open for new residents.

How we’re keeping our care homes safe

At Gracewell Healthcare, the health and happiness of our residents is of the utmost importance. It’s why over 95% of our care homes are rated as Good or Outstanding by the CQC. That’s why we’ve put in place a range of rigorous measures to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection within our homes, and to protect the physical and emotional wellbeing of our residents and the team around them.
