"When you come to the gut wrenching realisation that you can no longer provide the specialised care that your loved one requires, the nursing facility selected needs to be a very special place that can offer the complete range of medical, psychological, and supportive care that matches the needs of the individual. At Gracewell of Fareham I was able to find that place. One very special part of this facility is the activities team, led by Zoe Kelly.

When very severe and terminal illness strikes, quality and value needs to be added to each and every day because there is no knowing whether that day will be the very last. The need to grab each opportunity to enjoy life has to be taken. Over two and a half years I watched the persistence and tenacity of Zoe who did not fail in her efforts in trying to find activities to enrich the daily lives of the residents around her.

She is a gentle and happy soul with a very unassuming manner who always has time for those around her. All her plans are carefully thought out in advance and are underpinned by evidence based practice. I have watched her invest significant time in the art of just listening at exactly the right moment, or encouraging someone to dance, play bingo, sing, and numerous other activities that are incredibly valuable for a happy and contented life. However, the really special thing about Zoe is that when she has finally achieved that longed for smile on the face of a resident, she just steps back and walks away.... content to leave the friends and family to enjoy that precious moment.   Priceless moments that capture the essence of living. I have many of these moments forever in my memory because Zoe Kelly and those of her team do a simply outstanding job."

"Staff are very helpful - cleanly dressed - friendly. Always ready to join in."

My Aunt went into Gracewell Fareham in February 2020 after a spell in hospital. We looked at several homes, but all had one or two things that we were not happy with. Finally, after a suggestion from the sister of the ward she was in we went to Gracewell. We were impressed by our reception and the professionalism of the staff we met. After they reviewed my aunt, we agreed to her going there. We have never regretted that decision. She was welcomed, and her room beautifully prepared. All staff including domestic, nursing, catering, managers, maintenance and occupational have been perfect for her. She enjoys eating, and we cannot fault the food. The home also dealt with the Covod-19 outbreak speedily and as a result, have had no infections. They are easing visiting restrictions very gradually to ensure safety. We would like to thank all staff for their very hard work during this difficult time. At all times the home has maintained communication with us even though we could not visit.

How likely would you be to recommend Gracewell of Fareham? Extremely Likely

The team on the nursing floor were excellent (and your admissions manager). My father went to Gracewell, initially for respite, but the stay was extended when lockdown began. Communications were very good, using video conference calls to keep us in touch during this time, as well as newsletters to family showing events run for the residents. Sadly, my father succumbed to his Parkinson's condition before the lockdown ended, but we cannot thank the staff enough. They kept us in touch throughout and ensured we were part of any decision making. We were very pleased with Gracewell throughout.

A truly wonderful place. My mother has Alzheimer’s and moved into Gracewell in December. There really aren’t enough words to describe the love, care and attention my mother receives each day. The staff have maintained an extremely safe environment- and with the huge challenge with COVID they have been wonderful, not a single case; I’m so very grateful for all they do. iPads purchased for keeping in touch, daily activities, the list goes on forever. Thank you Gracewell.

How likely would you be to recommend Gracewell of Fareham? Extremely Likely

I cannot praise this care home highly enough in all aspects that you could ever wish for. In a time of need, they came to my rescue and from that moment on they have been fantastic, offering support and care to the highest standards alongside facilities, support and standards that you would really wish for an elderly relative. In times when unfortunately some care homes fall into a lower category, be assured that this home can be thoroughly recommended. Their professionalism and friendliness is second to none... you will not be disappointed. Excellent.

Could not fault the care my mother received. The care and understanding she received was above and beyond what was expected. Thank you.

Access to our homes: latest information

We continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, following public health advice. We've a detailed set of criteria to inform when an individual home can be reopened safely to limited visiting either by families of existing residents or by potential new residents who may want to view one of our homes. The majority of our homes are open for admissions.

As part of our approach to reopening for visitors, we'll be operating in a very different way. To minimise the risk of infection we've produced a safety guide. We'll continue to follow public health advice to determine when visits will return to normal and will continue to do our best to support residents to keep in touch with loved ones.
