Joanne Brown, Deputy Manager

Joanne

I have been in the caring profession for the past 38yrs and I believe everyone should have the best care possible, and we should treat everyone as if they are part of your family.

I have worked throughout the primary and secondary care sectors, and the knowledge gained will help me to ensure that the best care possible is achieved, from every level of the health sector.

We are privileged to be allowed to work in the residents home, and spend time with them in their twilight years.

Christine Ellesley, Home Admissions Adviser

Christine DaviesI joined Gracewell Healthcare in February 2015, having reached a stage in my career where I truly wanted to make a difference every day to people’s lives, and have a positive impact on society. It is an absolute privilege to help seniors and their families during what can be a very difficult time. My role is to assist families with finding the right care solution for their loved one’s next chapter. Each individual and their families are treated with support, dignity, respect, empathy and understanding. I can now honestly say that I make a difference each and every day, sometimes it's a small difference, but each small thing adds to the big difference!

Akhilesh Goswami, Clinical Lead Nurse

Akhilesh GoswamiI am a registered nurse who is passionate about caring for the elderly. Before joining Gracewell of Kentford in August 2015, I worked in an NHS Hospital where I gained my Mentorship Qualification in Healthcare Practice. I have also recently completed my Leadership and Management qualification in Health and Social Care. I believe that there is nothing more rewarding then to be able to care for people in need during the later stages of their lives. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing cricket with my local team.

Lijo Varghese, Clinical Lead Nurse

Lijo VargheseI started working at Gracewell of Kentford in 2012 and after leaving for few years to work for the NHS, I returned back as a full time member as it is a great place and team to work with. Since qualifying as a registered Nurse in 2007, I have gained valuable clinical experiences and knowledge working in various Intensive care units within private and NHS hospitals. As a keen learner, I have completed various courses throughout my career including management of a person with Diabetes and I recently completed my Level 5 in Leadership and Management in health and social care. I feel privileged to be given an opportunity to make a positive impact on the life's of the residents we look after, which is the most rewarding part of my job.

Laurence Marsters, Head Chef

Laurence

I initially started my career with a four year chef Apprenticeship at Newmarket General Hospital. I then spent two years, mainly in the special dietary kitchen, at Guys Hospital London. Following on from that I moved back to East Anglia, where I went on to work as a chef at Addenbrooke’s Hospital; a return to real cooking and where I met my amazing wife. My career journey then came full circle as I returned to Newmarket Hospital as Assistant Head Chef, and then subsequently Head Chef six months later.

I have always had a love for food and cooking, which is why I joined Gracewell of Kentford in 2011. We prepare and cook real food, from scratch, every day. Utilising local ingredients as much as possible.

Pauline Edgell, Head Housekeeper

Pauline EdgellDuring my career so far I have had many different experiences, from office work to retail; I even owned and ran my own pub! A part of my career that set me onto the path for care was when I bred and showed St Bernard dogs, this was an amazing experience for me and extremely rewarding. I then came to a time in my life when I wanted a change, so I decided to head into Housekeeping in a care home. This was a big, but positive, change for me and I have been in housekeeping ever since. I love how every day is different working at Gracewell of Kentford, and I really feel like I make a difference to the elderly residents who we serve.

Karl Cattliff, Maintenance Manager

Karl CattliffeI am a fully qualified heating and plumbing engineer, and have worked at Gracewell of Kentford since it opened in 2011. As a keen motorsport enthusiast, and telly addict I have also worked in a broad range of industries including, catering, banking, petrochemical and consumer goods, before turning my hand to service and care industry. My Job mostly entails ensuring the safety of residents and the building, general maintenance, annual certification and compliance.

Debra Murphy, Home Administrator

Debra MurphyPrior to joining the care industry I was working in financial services. However, in 2007 I reached a crossroad in my life where I felt it was time to make a difference; I wanted a career that was meaningful. So in 2007 I started as an Activities Co-ordinator in a care home. Over the next few years I transitioned into Administration and Dementia Care. I joined Gracewell of Kentford in 2017 as the Home Administrator. I am proud to work for one of the best care homes in the Suffolk. The most rewarding part of my day to day job is interacting with our residents and their families, a simple 'thank you' really goes a long way!

Visiting our homes: latest information

Due to the latest national restrictions, we continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, following public health advice. We’ve a detailed set of criteria to inform when an individual home can be reopened safely to limited visiting either by families or existing residents. The majority of our homes are open for new residents.

How we’re keeping our care homes safe

At Gracewell Healthcare, the health and happiness of our residents is of the utmost importance. It’s why over 95% of our care homes are rated as Good or Outstanding by the CQC. That’s why we’ve put in place a range of rigorous measures to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection within our homes, and to protect the physical and emotional wellbeing of our residents and the team around them.
