Rachel Bedford, our Home Manager, leads a dedicated support team who works together on a daily basis to ensure that our residents' needs are constantly being identified and that truly personalised care is provided.

As the General Manager of Gracewell of Sway, I am very proud to be leading such a beautiful home and dedicated team of staff. I have a wealth of experience to share with my team, from previous Home Manager roles, and I have been working in the care sector for over 20 years. The team here at Sway are passionate and caring, and strive to deliver high standards of personalised care to all our residents, and enable our residents to live enriched and purposeful lives, in a homely environment.

I have been at Gracewell of Sway since 2012. As part of this team, one of my achievements was being nominated in the National Care Awards 2014 as one of the Top 5 finalist in the Care Manager category. As a Deputy Manager my role is to support the manager and carry out Audits to maintain the good standards of the home. I am proud to be part of a dedicated care team whose aim is to deliver Person Centred and High Standard care.

I started my Journey at Gracewell of Sway when the home first opened in 2008. As a previous Care Team Leader I have supported our residents through their personal journeys to live their lives to the fullest and being dedicated to making a positive difference to the residents we care for. I have welcomed many residents and their family’s into our beautiful home. Now as Home Admissions Advisor I am dedicated to making a positive difference at what can be an emotional time for our residents and their loved ones, every effort goes into enhancing and enriching the lives of our residents, and ensuring that they find the right care solution that is bespoke to them.

It is a privilege to be part of the amazing team here at Gracewell of Sway, and seeing our residents flourish and fulfilled, is so rewarding. I look forward to welcoming you at Gracewell of Sway.

I have been at Gracewell of Sway for 10 years and I love my job! As Activities Coordinator, my role is to organise a wide range of activities for all residents to enjoy. Our philosophy is to enrich the mind, body and spirit. My personal favourites are exercise classes and crossword club. These are firm favourites with our residents too. I get a lot of fulfilment knowing that our residents love the activities we provide!

After 20 years of working in the hotel and restaurant industry, 10 years of which were in luxury, 5 star hotels, I moved to Gracewell of Sway when it was first built. I have now been here for 12 years and can honestly say how proud I am to be working with a great team and in such a lovely environment.

I feel very fortunate to be working with such a fantastic management team as well as all my amazing colleagues. The attention given to small details while showing empathy, respect, kindness and sincerity is what I love most about working for Gracewell of Sway. As Head Housekeeper I am responsible for implementing the 5* standard of cleanliness that our residents expect. Myself and my team try our hardest to maintain the standard that is expected of Gracewell luxury residential care homes.

I have been at Gracewell of Sway since 2007. As Head of Administration, I oversee the entire administrative function within the home including leadership of the Reception team, HR and Payroll and Resident Billing. My team and I are committed to delivering the highest standard of customer services at all times.

Colin, Resident Ambassador

Colin, has lived at Gracewell of Sway for two years. Born in Barry, South Wales, he was married to his late wife, Jean for a staggering 73 years. Sadly, Jean suffered from Alzheimer's and in Colin's own words "living through this emotional journey with my loved one has given me great insight and enabled me to offer support to others who maybe going through similar situations". Colin's caring nature and empathy for others makes him the perfect choice when welcoming and reassuring new residents into the home. He is always on hand to offer support and guidance … that's when he is not busy in his workshop, making bird houses for staff and residents of the home! He attends meetings, where he is able to provide valued feedback and encourage dialogue between himself, his fellow residents and Team Members. Indeed, one of Colin's fondest memories is the support of the Gracewell of Sway team in getting behind his Cancer Research UK fundraising efforts which resulted in him raising an incredible £3,000. Colin says: "I feel happy to have completed this challenge with the support of the lovely staff at Gracewell of Sway. Staff are attentive and compassionate and treat me with respect, they are always friendly and smiling, and go out of their way to offer any support. I am delighted to call Gracewell of Sway my home". Now, Colin is also involved in the recruitment process, as he is able to offer an invaluable view of the needs and wishes of the residents in the home. Colin reports Gracewell of Sway as "an amazing place to live, where I continue to lead an active and fulfilled life. The staff are wonderful, their kindness shines through and they are always on hand to help 24/7. I feel honoured, taking on this role, and look forward to sharing my experiences of the home, offering advice and addressing any questions that prospective residents and their loved ones may have and, equally, introducing them to the other residents and my many Gracewell friends. It will give me the greatest pleasure in welcoming you to our extended family here at Gracewell of Sway".
