Residential Care and Assisted Living

What is Residential Care?

Also known as personal care or assisted living, residential care is recommended for residents who need some assistance with daily activities but don’t require intensive nursing or rehabilitory care. Adults stay in a residential care home where they receive all meals, daily activities, housekeeping services, and 24-hour access to professional care.

Residential Care at Gracewell

At Gracewell Healthcare, we offer help and support with activities that range from personal hygiene to support at meal times, taking medications, getting dressed, taking a bath or going to the bathroom. Residential carers are available 24-hours a day and nurses are on call should an emergency arise.

In addition to care, Gracewell handles the daily chores such as laundry, maintenance, housekeeping and cooking. At our residential care homes, residents can follow a maintenance-free lifestyle, and have more time to enjoy our activities and home-cooked meals.

Individualised Care

Gracewell tailors each resident’s care to their specific needs and preferences. When a new resident chooses a Gracewell residential care home, our team conducts an assessment to determine the level of care needed. We also talk to the resident and their family members about likes and dislikes, hobbies, their former career, and other personal preferences. All of this data is put into the resident’s Individualised Service Plan (ISP) to ensure a personalised experience. The ISP is reviewed regularly and updated as needed so the care always reflects the resident’s needs, even as it changes. Find a Gracewell Residential Care Home near you.

Access to our homes: latest information

We continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis, following public health advice. We've a detailed set of criteria to inform when an individual home can be reopened safely to limited visiting either by families of existing residents or by potential new residents who may want to view one of our homes. The majority of our homes are open for admissions.

As part of our approach to reopening for visitors, we'll be operating in a very different way. To minimise the risk of infection we've produced a safety guide. We'll continue to follow public health advice to determine when visits will return to normal and will continue to do our best to support residents to keep in touch with loved ones.
